In what areas of your life do you need to give up the cramped, insane search for perfection? What would happen if you could do this?

Quote: Perfection
"Perfection is the voice of the oppressor, the enemy of the people. It will keep you cramped and insane your whole life . . . I think perfectionism is based on the obsessive belief that if you run carefully enough, hitting each stepping-stone just right, you won't have to die. The truth is that you will die anyway and that a lot of people who aren't even looking at their feet are going to do a whole lot better than you, and have a lot more fun while they're doing it."

Hiya Om Gal, thanks for the quote, it's quite timely because yesterday right before I hit my mat I decided to start working on letting go of my perfectionist tendencies. The short answer to your question is that it perfection permeates every area of my life, trying to look perfect, be the perfect wife and daughter, the perfect friend. But I've come to find that it stops me from trying anything new, and it hinders me from living 100% and uncut as I would say. A quote from a friend's fb page has the right idea "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WHOO HOO what a ride!""
